‘Why Parakeets?’, you ask? great question because at the time most of us were wondering the same thing at the start. Well, believe it or not, there is a sizable population of Monk Parakeets that exist all over Texas and South Austin is home to many of them. After the burning desire to play turned into forging a club of our own, we threw a couple of team names in a hat, voted on them, and the South Austin Parakeets became official. It couldn't have worked out any better because, like our namesake, after a few Friends And Allies brews we incessantly chatter and won't stop chirping. The majority of our inaugural roster were friends of friends from all different walks of life with a common goal of playing ball, knocking a few back, and having a good time doing it. Much has remained the same though we’ve made many new friends and have expanded our efforts to build community, support local initiatives, and inspire a new generation of baseball lovers. We’re proud of the club we’ve built and glad to be members of the #sandlotrevolution!
A portion of every Sandlot Team sale will go towards supporting Sandlot baseball teams and their charitable causes.

WE ONLY USE HAND-SPLIT WOOD FOR EVERY ART BAT!
STANDARD GRADE MAPLE AND ASH: All of the wood for our art bats is selected from hand-split stock - the same way they did it in the old days. Why is this important? It's all about getting the straightest grain possible. Nowadays, many wood providers use large saw equipment to cut lumber, producing high yields but also cutting across the face or tangential grain. Hand-split, lumber naturally follows the tangential grain, strengthening the bat and lets the wood’s natural beauty shine through.
Each art design goes through a process of hand-painting with stencils and spray paint, laser engraving or even select designs employ screen printing to get all of the details just right.
VETERAN OWNED AND USA MADE
PILLBOX BAT COMPANY IS A VETERAN OWNED SMALL BUSINESS. EACH OF OUR BATS IS CRAFTED IN OUR SMALL-TOWN USA WOODSHOP BY A DEDICATED AND HIGHLY SKILLED TEAM OF FOLKS.
