Austin Drag

The Austin Drag … a name with so many possibilities, we’ll let you decide what it means. Our team evolved from the original Austin Switch, sandlot’s only queer baseball club (as far as we know). Our queer roots are still very evident, and we consider ourselves Texas’ “queer and allies” sandlot baseball team. We came together as a team, not as an established group of friends, but as enthusiasts of baseball willing to forge friendships on the field. The Drag has been inclusive from the start, with players and fans from all walks of life. We take everyone just as they are, regardless of skill level or familiarity with the game. If you want to vibe, love baseball, and run around like a 12-year-old kid for a few hours every couple of Saturdays, let’s go! Our predominantly-female front office team leads this diverse group of self-described “dirtbags” (baseball junkies). We can’t say no to a baseball game and will play anybody, anywhere, anytime. We love the game that much; you can’t drag us off the field. The Austin Drag is united by a love of friendship, community, and baseball. Our happy, scrappy bunch will gladly share a bevy and/or a drag before, during, and most importantly, after the game. We advocate for equal rights and celebrate the beautiful diversity within the LGBTQ+ community, the city of Austin, and the game of baseball in general. Because ultimately, baseball is for everyone.
